First Sounds
The First Sounds compilations are a landmark initiative supporting First Nations musicians, providing a platform to share their music, stories, and culture with new audiences across Australia. Since its inception, the project has featured over 150 First Nations artists, including notable performers such as Dobby, Grace Alexandra, ChillCheney, Mr Rhodes, Roger Knox, Sunny Luwe, and GLVES, showcasing the incredible diversity and talent of Indigenous music today.
These compilations are distributed nationally to community radio stations, helping independent artists gain exposure, connect with new listeners, and create pathways to professional opportunities. Kameygal Music Studio has proudly collaborated with Australian Music Radio Airplay (AMRAP) and the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) on volumes 11–14, supporting the production, curation, and distribution of this vital platform.
The initiative operates in partnership with AMRAP and CBAA, with support from Music Australia, strengthening the reach of First Nations voices across the nation and celebrating the ongoing contribution of Indigenous artists to Australia’s musical landscape.
