Welcome to Gadigal Information Service
Australia’s leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts and media hub
Established in Redfern in 1993 on the traditional lands of the Gadigal people, Gadigal Information Service (GIS) is a First Nations owned and operated community media and arts social enterprise and founder of two iconic cultural programs of National significance – Koori Radio and Yabun Festival.
The legendary Koori Radio, broadcasts 24/7 to the Greater Sydney Region with a digital simulcast reaching audiences worldwide. Koori Radio contributes to strengthening community connectivity by promoting a vibrant First Nations music scene, sharing positive stories, and highlighting thought provoking topical issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Yabun is Australia’s largest one day festival showcasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, with over 45,000 annual visitors and getting bigger every year. The celebration of First Nations heritage and creative expression is shared throughout the rest of the year at our Klub Koori pop-up events in venues around Sydney and in regional NSW.
At GIS we are dedicated to nurturing and promoting the careers of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander musicians, songwriters, producers, journalists and broadcasters. We are a community-focused organisation, with plans to broaden access to our state-of-the-art audio production facilities including Kameygal music studio, extending our media platforms; Young, Blak and Deadly, support our emerging artists, and touring as ways of reaching further into communities while contributing to the professional development of artists.
Support our work by tuning into Koori Radio, celebrating First Nations culture at our community events, and choosing our audio production and rehearsal studios for your next creative project.
